CleverTrail:About

CleverTrail began as a side project while I was traveling through South America for a year. It was difficult to find accurate trail information, especially for some of the more remote areas, and I realized that there really wasn't a good solution to be found anywhere on the web.

As I began to play with the idea of a wiki, I also noticed that because every page would essentially take the same shape, I could sidestep the non-user-friendly syntax of a normal wiki and replace it with a user friendly middleman that could then translate into wiki text. My hope is that an easy to use interface will encourage anonymous and non-power users to add content here and there in a way that most wiki sites can't encourage as easily.

Although CleverTrail is focused on United States National Parks and California (two areas I have a lot of experience with) at the moment, I hope that one day we will cover the whole world so that the next guy traveling through the amazon basin won't get lost quite as easily :)
