This easy loop in San Bernadino National Forest is a great introduction to the local flora and fauna (through an interprative guide given at the trailhead) and can be enjoy by all ages.
Coming along Highway 18 in Big Bear Lake, drive to the Satanfield Cuttoff and then turn north. Continue to the junction on Highway 38/North Shore Drive and then turn left. Drive about 0.5 miles to the Woodland Trail trailhead, which is on the right side of Highway 38.
This relatively short loop has some mildly steep sections. Along the way you will see a lot of local plants indigenous to the area, and you can pick up an informative guide at the trailhead.
