Overview: Include a general description of the trail, what points of interest might be found on it, and what might be seen along the way. The terminus of this hike is the Greek freightor, the Dominator, which can be great for kids to explore (if they can make it past the somewhat difficult rocks on the beach). Also along the way are some great ocean views as well as a lovely bay. Directions To Trailhead: Include directions to the trailhead from the nearest city or parking including walking, bicycling, or whichever is most appropriate. Coming down from Redondo Beach, take Highway 1 south to the Palos Verdes Blvd exit and continue south. Turn right onto Via Corta and then another right at Via Arroyo. Continue along Via Arroyo until Paseo Del Mar and take a left. Just before you reach Via Horcada, park on the street and take the dirt road down to the shore. Trail Description: A detailed description of the trail. Try to describe directions within the trail such as forks in the trail or cairns. Include points of interest, overlooks, unique plants and animals, etc. Coming down the dirt access road, you will have to climb and walk over a couple of miles of somewhat challenging rocks - make sure to bring sturdy shoes! After about 2 miles you will get to the shipwreck of the Dominator. Conditions & Hazards: Describe possible trail hazards and current or potential conditions. Hazards might include narrow trails, poisonous animals or plants, etc. Conditions might include muddy trails after rain or snow closures and crowds. Wear sturdy shoes for the rocks as they can wear your ankles down. Make sure to come at low tide or you will be wading through the rocks at some points. Fees, Permits, & Restrictions: Detail entrance or parking fees, any permits required for the trail (backpacking or climbing, for example), and restrictions on usage. Amenities: Describe parking lots, drinking fountains, bathrooms, etc. Discuss what to do and where to go after the hike, for example good food joints or nearby watering holes. Miscellaneous: Any extra important facts or interesting trivia about the trail, crowd information, nearby points of interest, etc. You may be able to see seals during the summertime.
