CleverTrail:User Accounts

From CleverTrail
Jump to: navigation, search

You do not need an account on CleverTrail to view trails or even to make edits. However, there are many benefits to creating an account:

  • You will be able to create watchlists to watch certain trails and essentially save them as bookmarks
  • You will be able to view contributions that you have made to trails and be more effectively "credited" with your work
  • You can change many preferences for the look and feel of the CleverTrail website
  • You can create your own User page so other hikers will know more about you
  • You will be able to help administer the site by viewing the history of revisions, moving pages, and deleting unwanted graffiti
  • You can create a personalized trail map to track all the trails that you have completed.

[edit] User Trail Map

If you have a user account, you can click this button on trail articles if you have been on the given trail: I've done this trail.jpg

You can then go to your account page and see a trail map that shows all the trails you have marked as complete. This is a fun way to track your trails and remind yourself where you've been. Your account page can be found by clicking on your user name in the upper left (in the grey toolbar) and then on the "my page" link.

Marking trails as "done" is how you promote your Hiking Title (see below).

[edit] Hiking Title

You might notice that when you first register with CleverTrail, you will have a grey colored hiking badge next to your name in the toolbar (in the upper right corner). This is your Hiking Title (mousing over it will give the title text). Your Hiking Title gets promoted when you mark trails as "done" (see the section above) and corresponds to the following ranges:

  • HikerTitle24 1.png - No Title (0 trails)
  • HikerTitle24 2.png - Wanderer (1-9 trails)
  • HikerTitle24 3.png - Trekker (10-24 trails)
  • HikerTitle24 4.png - Wayfarer (25-49 trails)
  • HikerTitle24 5.png - Adventurer (50-99 trails)
  • HikerTitle24 6.png - Explorer (100-199 trails)
  • HikerTitle24 7.png - Trailblazer (200+ trails)

You can also see your Hiking Title on your User Page (click your User Name on the toolbar and then "my page") as well as any other user's Hiking Title on his or her User Page. Additionally, when you post comments on a trail, your Hiking Title will show up next to your name.
